About this place
Bocas de Ceniza is the exact point where the Magdalena River, Colombia's most important, flows into the Caribbean Sea; its name comes from the grayish color the water takes on as it mixes with the river's sediment. You get there on a tourist train that runs along the breakwater from the Ciénaga de Mallorquín to the point where the river meets the sea — one of the most singular and photographed landscapes in Atlántico. Tips: bring a cap and sunscreen, as the route has no shade; the train mostly runs on weekends and holidays.
Getting there: from Barranquilla, toward the Las Flores neighborhood / Ciénaga de Mallorquín.
