About this place
Stretching about 4 miles (6.5 km), this is a protected body of water in the northernmost part of Barranquilla, bordered by the Las Flores and La Playa neighborhoods and connected to the Caribbean Sea and the Magdalena River. It offers hiking, mangrove-planting activities, bike paths, birding, and water sports, plus contemplation piers and a 26-foot (8-meter) lookout tower. With 163 recorded species, it's one of the best birding sites in the department.
