The Muelle de Puerto Colombia was built in 1888 by Cuban engineer Francisco Javier Cisneros and opened in 1893 — at the time, the second-longest pier in the world, at nearly 3,940 feet (1,200 m), and Colombia's main seaport until the 1920s, welcoming thousands of immigrants. After decades of neglect, it was rebuilt in 2022 and today is a 656-foot (200 m) pedestrian walkway over the sea, with spectacular sunset views and enormous historical value for the region. Tips: ideal for sunset photos; pair the visit with the Plaza de Puerto Colombia, just steps away.
Getting there: 25 minutes from Barranquilla via the Vía al Mar.
