About this place
Bocatocino, in Juan de Acosta, is a remote beach with a uniquely scenic landscape, crystal-clear water, and soft sand. Along with Punta Astilleros (Piojó), it's one of only two beaches in the Atlántico separated by a nearly 500-meter sand cliff, both featuring distinctive dunes. It has an ecosystem of red, black, and buttonwood mangroves, and its geography makes it a strategic spot for low-impact ecotourism.
Tips: access is mainly by 4x4 vehicle or with a local guide; services are scarce, so bring water and sunscreen. Getting there: via the road to Juan de Acosta, about 37 mi (60 km) from Barranquilla.
