The beach

Ancestral territory of the Mokaná people, the original inhabitants of this stretch of Caribbean coast between the Magdalena River and the sea. Fourteen recognized communities, a 200-member Council of Elders, and Piedra Pintada — a sacred site with ancient petroglyphs of human figures, animals, and geometric patterns. Mokana Ecotours runs community-based tours with guides who are direct descendants.
