The beach

Puerto Velero is the mecca of kitesurfing on Colombia's Caribbean coast. Northeast trade winds average 15–22 knots with gusts to 30–35, a bay of flat, wave-free water for learning at your own pace, and La Punta for riders who've already got it down. IKO-certified schools teach you from scratch. The marina has lodging, restaurants, and everything you need to stay a few days — and outside the bay, waves are waiting for the advanced crowd.
