History

Muelle de Puerto Colombia

The pier that was once the longest in the Americas and third-longest in the world

Built in 1893 by Cuban engineer Francisco Javier Cisneros, the Muelle de Puerto Colombia stretched 720 meters — once the longest pier in the Americas and third-longest in the world. Arab, Italian, German, and Jewish immigrants who shaped the Colombian Caribbean first set foot here. For decades it was Colombia's front door. Today it's part of the Malecón del Mar, a major urban renewal project. What remains of the original pier is a National Heritage Site and the town's most iconic symbol.

La Ventana de Sueños

South America's tallest lighthouse, with a view straight to the horizon

Opened in 2023, La Ventana de Sueños stands 70 meters tall — South America's tallest lighthouse. Designed by Tecnoglass, this steel-and-glass structure has become Puerto Colombia's new icon. At night it lights up in colors visible for miles. It's a tribute to the town's port history and a symbol of Atlántico's future. The outdoor area is free to visit.

Castillo de Salgar

A colonial fortress facing the Caribbean Sea

Built in the 19th century as a military fort to guard the Atlántico coast, the Castillo de Salgar is now one of the department's most photographed landmarks. Perched on a cliff with a direct view of the Caribbean Sea, it's a striking sight. It now hosts cultural events, weddings, and conventions. Its colonial military architecture stands out sharply against the blue of the Caribbean.
